This collar represents the stresses that I have had to face when confronting my future as an artist. The chain was acquired from my family's ranch and represents the practical questions and constraints that most of us have to face when dealing with our families as artists. The minimal  construction of this collar represents the desire to return to the simplicity of making art for myself and letting go of preconceived notions. Each portion of the piece is connected using the tap-and-dye  method, which further emphasizes simplicity and the desire to return to a more straightforward approach to art-making.
